Clay Terrazzo in Zurich

Ackersteinstrasse

The renovation project at Ackersteinstrasse showcases the integration of sustainable materials in urban renovation. Situated in Zurich's Höngg district, the 1937 single-family house was transformed into a multi-family residence, emphasizing on ecological building practices and energy efficiency. Covering 45 m² across three rooms, a poured-earth Terrazzo floor was cast, utilizing Oxacrete® Nossim. Using Oxacrete® Nossim helped repurposing three tons of excavation material and reducing CO₂ emissions by 0.5 tons. This project exemplifies how sustainable materials can be seamlessly integrated into existing structures, offering a viable path toward circular and low-carbon construction practices without compromising on quality or aesthetics.
