Clay and wood - a perfect match.

Chäsimatt

At Chäsimatt in Rotkreuz the area of a former dairy, Alti Chäsi, was repurposed for housing and small businesses. The original brick structures remain and offer a distinctive atmosphere to the premises. One of the old cellars was reconstructed for the use as a wine cellar for the tenants. This rental wine storage facility features a ceiling constructed through in-situ poured earth cast between existing timber beams, using Oxara's Oxacrete® Care. The earthen material was mixed and cast on-site using excavated material that otherwise would have been deposited on a landfill. The poured earth regulates the indoor climate smoothly. Thus, it proved ideally suited to the wine cellar's specific climate requirements, creating optimal storage conditions while respecting the building's historical context.
